What it is: A thigh lift procedure removes redundant folds of draping skin and underlying fatty tissue from the upper, inner aspects of the medial thigh areas. These deformities are generally the result of significant weight loss or aging. The folds of redundant skin and subcutaneous fatty tissue are excised and the medial thigh is lifted superiorly to give a more youthful and pleasing appearance.
Where it is Done: It is usually performed on an out-patient basis in a day surgery center.
What to Expect: A visible scar is placed in a inconspicuous area, most often beneath the bathing suit line. Occasionally post-operative drains are required. Depending on the magnitude of the areas treated, 2 small plastic drains maybe left in place for approximately one week. These drains are easily removed in the office during a post-operative visit.
Anesthesia and Medication: A thigh lift most commonly requires general anesthesia, especially if the procedure is combined with liposuction.
